I am a British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited and registered counsellor.
Before I became a therapist I had a successful career in art and design education. I found that my pastoral and mentoring roles as a tutor were very rewarding; I became increasingly interested in deeper psychological and therapeutic ways of working with people.
I undertook a rigorous training in Psychodynamic Counselling. An important part of the training, to become the therapist, was a requirement that I undertook my own personal therapy. My own experience of therapy included weekly Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy, which has helped to inform my work. This helps me to understand some of the difficulties you may have in coming to therapy.
Having worked in further and higher education I have experience of the demands and stresses experienced by people in the workplace.
As an accredited and registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), there is an annual requirement to provide evidence of on-going learning. As part of my commitment to professional development I regularly attend CPD workshops and conferences.
